Our Sun & Fun Vacation Packing Guide
There’s something about summer that makes us incredibly eager to schedule a trip (or two!). Maybe it’s memories of childhood family vacations, maybe it’s all the long holiday weekends, or maybe it’s just the warm and sunny weather. Whatever the reason, we’re currently finalizing our summer vacay plans—and the wardrobes to go with them! See what we’re planning to pack for six quintessential summertime getaways.
I’m headed…to the beach
There’s no vacation that sums up summer quite like a trip to the beach! Whether you’re spreading out your blanket for a single afternoon in the sun or posting up for an entire week by the ocean, you’ll need a few staples to make the most of all that sand and surf. Start with a loose-fitting sundress or romper that you can throw on over your swimsuit for a quick lunch or a stroll down the boardwalk, paired with comfy slip-on sandals and a wide-brimmed hat. Finish off your look with a roomy tote bag that can hold all your beach day essentials: towel, sunscreen, shades, snacks, and a good book. We also recommend a smaller pouch to keep valuable items—like your phone, keys, and cash—safe and secure.
I’m headed…to the mountains
If a mountain getaway is on your summer agenda, you’ll need pieces that are a little bit rugged but still ready for an Instagram-worthy photo-op at your favorite scenic vista. A pair of relaxed boyfriend jeans is the perfect foundation for a mountain weekend wardrobe; they’re ready shield your legs from bugs and briars on a low-key hike, or keep you comfortable when you’re relaxing by the fire pit after dinner. Round out your wardrobe with a few casual tees and, of course, a flannel shirt for those chilly mountain nights.
I’m headed…to a national park
Summer is the ideal season to explore one of America’s incredible national parks. This vacation is likely to be the most physically demanding on our list, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice fashion altogether! If you’re headed to a national park this summer, fully embrace athleisure with leggings that will let you hit the trail in style. Pair them up with a fun graphic tee and some colorful sneakers for a day of exploring.
I’m headed…to a theme park
While there’s nothing like a day at Disney to make you feel like a kid again, a summertime visit to a theme park can also leave you feeling a little sweaty and bedraggled. Stay fresh and ready to face even the longest line by pairing your favorite shorts with a lightweight tank top. You’ll be cool in the sun, avoid any unfortunate tan lines, and look so easy and breezy that you might even want to take home that overpriced snapshot from your rollercoaster ride.
I’m headed…abroad
An overseas vacation is incredibly exciting, but it can also feel super daunting to pack for! How can you stay comfortable, dodge overweight baggage fees, and avoid looking like the cliché frumpy tourist? When it comes to a summer vacation abroad, we’re all about a great dress. A chic midi dress in a breathable fabric will be your best friend during a trip overseas. It’s a simple, one-piece outfit that you can throw on with canvas sneakers for a long day of sightseeing, then dress up with heels and jewelry for dinner at a sidewalk café. Take along a cross body bag in a neutral hue to top off your look and hold all the essentials.
I’m headed…on a staycation
When it comes to relaxation, sometimes there’s just no place like home! It can be incredibly satisfying to take a few days off work and simply lounge around in your own house! A staycation is the perfect time to catch up on Netflix, chill in the backyard with a good book, and explore the local sights and shops you overlook during the daily grind. Let’s be honest—part of the beauty of a staycation is the chance to stay in your pajamas all day. But you can also treat yourself to one or two fresh additions to your summer wardrobe (because you’re saving some serious cash!), then head out for dinner and drinks with your local besties.
