5 Looks You’ll Love for Valentine’s Day

Now that the holiday season has come to a close and we’ve officially wrapped up 2018, it’s time to look ahead to the next cause for celebration: Valentine’s Day! Whether you’re happily committed or a super-cool single lady, there’s lots to love about this midwinter holiday. One thing that always excites us about Valentine’s Day is the chance to pick out a new outfit for the occasion! You might be planning a red-hot date or an evening at home with the girls and a few of your favorite rom-coms—no matter what V-Day has in store, we’ve got the perfect outfit inspiration.

Date Night: Let’s start with a Valentine’s Day classic: a good old-fashioned dinner date. If you and your sweetheart are trying a new restaurant in town, you’ve found the perfect opportunity to pick a show-stopping new outfit. The good news: Valentine’s Day is the ideal time to look your best in a form-fitting mini dress. The bad news: February can be really cold, and shivering on the walk to dinner is no way to start off your night! Stay cozy with a timeless trench coat that’s a bit more chic than your everyday puffer jacket, layered with a bulky scarf for extra warmth. If the weather is snowy, finish off your look with some sleek ankle boots (maybe even a pair with a hint of sparkle?) for a more practical alternative to heels.

Weekend Away: If you’re serious about your Valentine’s Day celebrations, you might be planning a quick trip out of town with your better half. Exciting, right? Even more exciting—you’ll get to pick out more than one Valentine’s Day look! You’re likely to pack a date night outfit like the one we described above and the rest of your weekend wardrobe will be determined by your location. However, you might also consider giving your travel attire a chic upgrade. Start the trip off on a more romantic note by skipping those travel-day sweatpants in favor of leggings with trendy details or a chic athleisure look.

Girl’s Night Out: When you’re planning a big night out with your gal pals for Valentine’s Day, be bold with an eye-catching look that shows off some of the season’s hottest trends. Skip any items in shades of pink or red (too cliché) and walk on the wild side with an animal print piece instead. A sleek jumpsuit is also a serious power move when dressing for a night on the town; we love the idea of an all-in-one outfit that’s bedecked with sequins or lace for a serious style statement.

Galentine’s Day: If you’re more of a homebody when it comes to Valentine’s Day, you might be inclined to gather your closest girlfriends for a casual ‘Galentine’s Day’ party instead of a night on the town. It’s hard to pass up the opportunity for a ladies’ night of wine, chick flicks, and (of course) lots of celebratory chocolate! Before you cozy up on the couch, make sure you’ll be super comfy for a long evening of lounging. Throw on your favorite boyfriend jeans with an oversized sweater, keep things casual yet chic in a flowy cotton romper, or just go all-in for comfort with leggings, your most worn-in college sweatshirt, and an effortless topknot. Now all you need is a Netflix subscription and a bowl of popcorn.

Treat Yourself: It can be hard to feel the love for Valentine’s Day when you find yourself without plans, but this holiday can also be a chance to celebrate the most important person in your life: you! A solo Valentine’s Day presents the opportunity for a restorative evening of self-care. Order takeout from your favorite neighborhood restaurant, grab a couple of sheet masks from the drug store (funny selfies anyone?), give yourself an at-home manicure, and watch a movie you’ve been wanting to see for a while. You can also give your wardrobe a little love with a fun piece of jewelry, a cool new clutch, or something stylish to upgrade your underwear drawer. A relaxing evening that features all of your favorite things might be just the midwinter break you need.
